Questions People Often Ask
What is Qi Gong?
Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese practice of mindful movement, breath, and energy awareness. It helps improve vitality, balance, and mental clarity. At Inspiral Flowstate, we guide you through accessible Qi Gong sessions designed to help you feel grounded, energized, and present — whether in the Forest of Dean or online.
What is Soma Breathwork?
Soma Breathwork is a dynamic breathing technique that helps you release stress, access creativity, and enter a flow state. Sessions combine rhythmic breathing, breath holds, and music to support mental clarity, emotional release, and personal transformation.
Why is holding our breath on the out-breath so important?
Holding the breath after exhaling isn’t just a pause — it’s a powerful tool for your body and mind. This practice creates a brief state of intermittent hypoxia (slightly lower oxygen levels), which stimulates the body to become more efficient at using oxygen. At the same time, it triggers the Bohr effect, a natural process where your hemoglobin releases oxygen more readily to your tissues.
This combination supports both physical and mental wellbeing:
Physically: It can improve circulation, boost oxygen delivery to muscles and organs, strengthen the respiratory system, and support cellular energy production.
Mentally: It trains focus, patience, and resilience, helps calm overthinking, and encourages a sense of presence. Many people notice reduced stress, greater clarity, and an overall sense of lightness after practicing breath holds regularly.
By practicing this pause, you’re giving your body a subtle workout while your mind learns to settle — a simple yet powerful way to feel calmer, clearer, and more energized.
