Manu Song - DigeriYew

This collaboration came about when my friend Manu came over for a visit to the Forest of Dean in August 2025. I had told him about this Magnificent Yew tree that I would like him to meet and we agreed that it would be a great idea for him to bring along his didgeridoo, made of yew, and for us to make a recording. I took my Hover Air X1 pro drone and my dji osmo pocket 3 with me to capture him playing. Manu took the recording we made at the Yew tree and added some percussion and vocals and I edited the video around his soundtrack. The sound track is a merging of two songs, ‘Blessed We Are’ by Peia Luzzi and a Celtic poem from the song ‘She’ by Lisa Thiel & Ani Williams. Together, these songs express the feelings of reverence we felt in the presence of this great and ancient Yew tree. The chant, ‘Druwe Taneos Colabru Sobene’ is a Celtic prayer that means ‘May All Beings Be Happy And Free'. We hope that the meeting of tree with human, the creative collaboration and the message of the song all resonate with you.
